Day by Day Itinerary
Your adventure begins with an early-morning pickup from your Arusha hotel by your professional safari guide. After a short briefing, depart for the Ndutu area, traveling through the scenic landscapes of northern Tanzania toward the southern Serengeti ecosystem.
Upon arrival, explore the open plains of Ndutu, a key seasonal gathering area for wildebeest and zebras during the Great Migration. During the calving season, thousands of wildebeest calves may be born across the grasslands, attracting predators and creating remarkable opportunities to observe wildlife behavior.
Enjoy a game drive through the plains and surrounding woodland, searching for wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, lions, cheetahs, hyenas, and other animals. Your guide will select suitable areas based on current wildlife movements and road conditions.
Stop for a picnic lunch during the day before continuing with your afternoon game drive. As the sun begins to set, proceed to your safari lodge or tented camp in the Ndutu area or nearby southern Serengeti region. Check in, enjoy dinner, and relax after an exciting first day in the wilderness.

Wake up early and enjoy breakfast at your camp before setting out for a morning game drive across the Ndutu plains. The early hours offer excellent opportunities for wildlife photography and observing animals as they become active.
Continue searching for migrating wildebeest and zebras, as well as predators that follow the herds. If traveling during the calving season, you may see newborn wildebeest taking their first steps beside their mothers. Depending on wildlife movements, you may also encounter lions, cheetahs, hyenas, jackals, and numerous bird species.
After your morning exploration, return to camp for lunch or enjoy a picnic lunch, depending on the day's schedule. Later, begin your journey toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, enjoying the changing scenery as the open plains give way to the highlands.
Arrive at your lodge in the Ngorongoro or Karatu area, check in, and spend the remainder of the afternoon relaxing. Dinner and overnight accommodation will be at your lodge, preparing you for an early departure to Ngorongoro Crater the following morning.

After an early breakfast, depart for the Ngorongoro Crater, one of Tanzania’s most extraordinary wildlife destinations. Descend into the crater for a memorable game drive across its diverse landscapes, including open grasslands, woodland, wetlands, and the shores of a seasonal or alkaline lake.
The crater supports an impressive variety of wildlife. During your game drive, look for lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, hyenas, hippos, and other animals. Ngorongoro is also an important habitat for the endangered black rhinoceros, although sightings cannot be guaranteed.
Enjoy a picnic lunch at a designated location during your crater visit, surrounded by the dramatic scenery of this ancient volcanic caldera. Continue exploring with your guide before ascending the crater walls in the afternoon.
After leaving the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, drive back to Arusha or continue to the airport for your onward flight, depending on your travel arrangements and departure time. This marks the end of your 3-Day Ndutu Calving Season Safari with Aqon Safari Limited.
